Manatees can be seen all along the coast, and other wild life includes sea otters, turtles, deer, alligators, great blue herons, and egrets. The area offers some of the best fishing both fresh water and sea water. The nearest beach is just 7 minutes away, and most local beaches are equipped with barbecues, toilets, and shaded areas. Tarpon Springs, just 20 minutes drive, offers the opportunity to take a trip to see divers collecting sponges. There are a number of State Parks in the area, and canoeing is popular in the nearby Weeki Wachi River. As Hudson/New Port Richey is only 20 minutes to Clearwater, 35 minutes to Busch Gardens, and 45 minutes to Tampa and St Petes, it is a great location for a Gulf Coast holiday.
