Bananaquit House is situated in Soufriere with unparalleled views of the Caribbean Sea and the Piton mountains, a World Heritage Site. On a clear day St. Vincent is visible in the far distance. Soufriere is the third town of St. Lucia. It is a two-hour drive from Castries/George Charles Airport and 45 minutes drive from Hewanorra Airport. The drive-in volcano, the health-giving mineral baths, and the beautiful Diamond botanical gardens are situated in the area. Anse Chastanet Hotel and Anse Mamim beach is five minutes drive away and is renowned for its excellent snorkelling.
This Caribbean villa is named after the bananaquit bird and is surrounded by a colourful, terraced garden which is planted with bougainvillea, palms, mangoes, lilies and other exotic flora. A fabulous setting for a Caribbean holiday.
You enter the property through a pool terrace, with a fenced swimming pool (10 ft x 15ft) The terrace opens onto a large living area consisting of a dining area with a dining table which can seat 8 persons comfortably and offers views over the garden and of the sea and the mountains. The living area is adjacent and has ample seating consisting of three sofas and a chaise longue. There is a small library of books and a cupboard equipped with many games and puzzles to keep the family entertained, a stereo system and a TV with a DVD player ( there is no TV reception in this area). At the back of the house there is a well equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee maker etc. Adjacent is a laundry room with a washing machine.
There are five main air conditioned bedrooms, which can sleep eleven comfortably. Downstairs, bedroom I has a King-size bed, ceiling fan, a private balcony with a spectacular view and an ensuite bathroom. Bedroom 2 also has a King-size bed, a ceiling fan and French doors that open out onto the garden. Bedroom 3 has a single bed and a set of bunk beds and a ceiling fan. Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a bathroom. There are two additional bedrooms upstairs which share a bathroom – bedroom 4 has 1 twin bed and 1 single bed and a table fan and bedroom 5 has two single beds and is cooled by a ceiling fan and/or air conditioning.
The floor below has a colonnaded gallery running along the length of the house, with a fish pond filled with lilies. This area is furnished with sofas and tables.
This Caribbean villa is equipped with 2 baby cots and 2 high chairs which are available to guests at no extra charge. There is also a gas barbeque. A safe is available for the use of guests.
Housekeepers – three housekeepers on duty from 8.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday and one housekeeper on duty Saturday and Sunday. Paul is the caretaker and gardener. He can sleep at the premises on request at no extra charge.
There is a dog on the premises which can be removed if guests prefer.
Please note that our housekeepers are not trained nannies and should not be expected to look after and/or babysit infants and children. If you do make babysitting arrangements with the staff, please be advised this is at your own risk.
